FES – IFRANE – AZROU – MIDELT – ERRACHIDIA – ZIZ VALLEY – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA
After breakfast we’ll set off for Midelt, across the mountains and cedar woods of the Middle Atlas, passing through Ifrane, a pleasant ski town known as “the Switzerland of Morocco” due to similarities in landscape, followed by Azrou, an important artisan town specialized in wood products, cedar in particular. We shall then cross the Col du Zad pass, at an altitude of 2178m and arrive in Midelt at lunchtime. In the early afternoon we shall continue on to Errachidia, the Ziz Valley with its palm tree groves and then Erfoud. Lastly from here we shall travel to Merzouga and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We shall leave our luggage at the hotel and continue on camel back towards a typical Berber camp, where we shall have dinner and sleep in the midst of the desert.
MERZOUGA – RISSANI – ERFOUD – TOUROUG – TINJDAD – TINGHIR – TODRA GORGE – BOUMALNE – DADÈS GORGE AND VALLEY
We’ll wake up early to admire the beautiful desert sunrise over the dunes. We’ll then return to the hotel on camel back for breakfast. Departure for Rissani and Erfoud, where we’ll visit fossil laboratories. Our journey shall resume, taking us to the Todra Gorges with numerous palm tree groves and Berber villages along the way. Lunch at the Todra Gorges then in the early afternoon our journey shall resume to Boumalne, the Dadès Gorges and valley. Dinner and overnight stay.
DADÈS GORGE – VALLEY OF THE ROSES – SKOURA – OUARZAZATE
After breakfast we’ll make our way to the Dadès valley up to the Ait Youl Kasbah, and then we’ll cross the Valley of the Roses with its kasbahs and ksour, a varied and interesting landscape featuring palm tree groves, villages and mountains. We shall then arrive in Kelaa M’Gouna for lunch. In the early afternoon our journey shall resume and we’ll head to the Skoura palm tree grove and the Amridil Kasbah. We shall then continue to Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight stay.
OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKESH
After breakfast we’ll set aside an entire morning just to visit Ouarzazate, the Taourirt Kasbah, Tifoultout and the film studios which this small town is famous for and where many films have been shot including The Gladiator, Obelix and Sahara. Lastly we’ll visit the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, declared a UNESCO World Heritage. We’ll resume our journey to Marrakesh in the afternoon, over the summits of the High Atlas. Arrival in the city in the evening and end of services.
