Day 1
Marrakesh – Telouet – Ait Ben Haddou
We’ll meet at the airport in Marrakesh and start our journey into the south. We’ll leave the city behind and travel towards the High Atlas Chain which we shall cross at an altitude of 2260 (at the Tizi n’ Tichka pass), then we shall descend down to Telouet along a track, followed by a visit to the kasbah. We shall pass Berber villages along our way to Ait Benhaddou, where many famous films have been shot including the Gladiator, Obelix, Sahara….overnight stay nearby.
Day 2
Ait Ben Haddou – La valle del draa – Alnif – Merzouga (deserto)
After breakfast departure for the Draa valley, we’ll pass through Ouarzazate; during the journey you’ll have the chance to admire some kasbah and palm tree groves along the route. Along the road which crosses Alnif, we’ll reach the dunes of Erg Chebbi (the highest in Morocco) and Merzouga. Our hotel is located right in front of the Large Dune. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
Merzouga – Erg Chebbi
Route through the dunes of Erg Chebbi, the two oases of Merzouga, the lands of nomads, a stop at the city of Khamlia, whose inhabitants originally came from Mali, both as slaves and nomads, to listen to some African music and see the impressive Daryl Sirji lake. Return to hotel at midday followed by an afternoon camel ride in the desert up to the tented camp where we shall have dinner and stay over night.
Day 4
Merzouga – Rissani – Todra
After admiring the sunrise we’ll return to the hotel on camel back for breakfast and a refreshing shower, followed by departure for Rissani, Morocco’s first imperial city. We shall stop at Erfoud, a city famous for its fossils, then Tafilalet and lastly a visit of the valley and its impressive Todra gorges, where we shall stay over night.
Day 5
Todra – Boumalne Dades
After breakfast we shall walk to the Todra palm tree grove and from there we’ll head to Boumalne Dadès, a Berber village, located in the eponymous valley and gorge. We shall spend the night here.
Day 6
Boumalne Dades – Valley of the Roses
After breakfast our journey shall resume along a dirt track through a Berber village nestled between the Middle Atlas mountains, and from here we shall proceed to the Valley of the Roses, all the while admiring the breathtaking scenery. Overnight stay and dinner.
Day 7
Valley of the Roses – Marrakech
After breakfast we shall leave the Valley of the Roses and the community of Skoura and head towards Ouarzazate. From here we shall cross the mountains of the High Atlas and arrive in Marrakesh in the early afternoon, just in time to see the sunset animated by the vibrant vitality of Jemaa el-Fna, a site which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage. Dinner and overnight stay in the city.
Day 8
Marrakesh
After breakfast you may wish to visit the city and then go to the airport, or directly go to the airport, depending on your flight schedule. End of services.
