DAY 1
MARRAKESH – OUARZAZATE – DADÈS GORGES
After breakfast, departure from Marrakesh towards the south to the wonderful mountains of the High Atlas which we’ll cross at the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2260 m. A unique location, this pass offers breathtaking views over the surrounding valleys and their colourful Berber villages. Our journey shall then take us to Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood” of Nothern Africa due to its famous film studios where numerous films have been shot, including The Gladiator. We’ll also visit the Kasbah of Taourirt before continuing on to Skoura and Kelaa Mgouna, the “town of the roses”, and lastly the Dadès Gorges. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel at the Gorges.
DAY 2
DADÈS GORGES – SAGHRO MOUNTAINS – DRAA VALLEY – ZAGORA
After breakfast, we’ll set off for the volcanic Saghro mountains passing through the gorges and the incredible rock formations of the impressive Tizni n Tazazert road with its breathtaking views. Our journey will continue towards the Draa Valley, with its green palm tree groves and numerous Berber villages, up to Zagora. Overnight stay and dinner in hotel.
DAY 3
ZAGORA – TAMEGROUTE – M’HAMID – ERG CHEGAGA DUNES
After breakfast, departure to the sandy dunes of Erg Chegaga with a stop at Tamegroute to visit the renowned Koranic library, the underground Kasbah and the ceramic workrooms. Your journey will continue to M’hamid, the “gateway to Sahara”, where we’ll stop for lunch. In the afternoon, after an excursion on camel back, we’ll follow a track through the rocky desert up to the dunes of Erg Chegaga. Our staff will be glad to welcome you with a special and refreshing mint tea, afterwards you may choose to take a pleasant walk among the dunes and admire the sunset. Dinner, then overnight stay in a tent or under a starry sky.
DAY 4
DUNES OF ERG CHEGAGA – FOUM ZGUID – TAZNAKHT – AÏT BENHADDOU
An early start to admire the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, depart in a 4×4 jeep for Foum Zguid, travelling along the old Paris-Dakar itinerary which runs across the dry lake of Iriqui. After a stop for lunch at the village of Taznakht, departure for Aït Benhaddou. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.
DAY 5
AIT BENHADDOU – HIGH ATLAS – MARRAKESH
Dopo colazione in hotel, visita della kasbah di Ait Benhaddou dichiarata patrimonio mondiale dall’UNESCO. Questa kasbah è stata scenario delle riprese cinematografiche di numerosi film Hollywoodiani tra cui il Gladiatore. Dopo la visita, riprenderemo il viaggio verso Marrakech passando per le impressionanti montagne dell’Alto atlante per poi arri-vare in città verso le 5:00 del pomeriggio. Trasferimento in hotel/riad e fine dei nostri servizi.
